One of the very first steps any new couponer is going to need to take is building up a coupon stockpile. A coupon stockpile is simply a collection of coupons that can be used to get some of the best deals out there. One of the complaints that I hear the most from new couponers is that they do not yet have all the coupons necessary to get the deals that they see others getting. As a new couponer, it is important to allow yourself some time to gather coupons and build your coupon stockpile. In order to do this, it is vital to know where to find those coupons. Here are two of the most well-known places to look:
Newspaper Inserts
One of the most recognized resources for coupons are the inserts you can find in your Sunday Newspaper. These inserts include hundreds of coupons and will be your biggest resource for building that coupon stockpile. The three primary inserts that you will find in your paper are SmartSource, RedPlum and the P&G BrandSaver. Each of these comes packed with hundreds of dollars in money saving coupons. Sometimes we will also see additional inserts from Kellogg’s, General Mills, Unilever, Betty Crocker and other manufacturers. Having a newspaper subscription or access to a Sunday paper is key for couponers. When researching a newspaper subscription, you will want to focus on the paper from the largest city that is in your area. Papers that come out of highly populated areas often contain the most and highest value of coupons.
Once you have your newspaper subscription, you will want to make sure no to throw away the inserts after looking through them. Most coupons found in these inserts have expiration dates anywhere from a month to one year out. Some of the best deals that experienced couponers are able to get are from coupons that came out in inserts that were released months prior. Depending on which coupon organization method you choose, keeping these coupon inserts on hand can be as simple as writing the date on the front and filling them in that order.
Internet Printable Coupons
Another fantastic, up and coming way to build up your coupon stockpile is to use internet printables. There are various websites that will allow you to print coupons right from your computer. Here are three of the most popular:
It is important to understand that the printable coupons that are available on websites like SmartSource and RedPlum are not the same as the coupons that come in newspaper inserts.
The majority of Internet Printable Coupons that we see have print limit of two coupons per computer. After printing your first coupon (or set of coupons), just hit the back button on your browser to print another coupon. You might need to click refresh after clicking back.
Make sure to not make the same mistake that I made when I first started couponing and don’t feel like you have to print every single coupon that you see. Ink costs money and if all you are doing is spending money on ink, you are defeating the purposed of printing the coupons. With that said, there are still a ton of coupons that are worth printing! Just make sure the answer to atleast one of these questions is yes:
1.) Will I use this coupon?
2.) Is it a high-value coupon?
3.) Is there an upcoming deal for this coupon?
4.) Is the coupon for a product I will use or I can donate?
Most Internet Printing websites will require you to download their coupon printing software. As long as you are visiting a legitimate coupon printing website, including the ones listed above, there is nothing to be worried about. There are thousands of people all over the country who use these websites to print coupons…they are safe!
If you are a new couponer, these are the first two coupon resources that you will want to look into. Make sure to focus on keeping your growing coupon stockpile as organized as possible.
